She screams

I don't know what's wrong with The Little Madam, but she's not having a good night. She woke up at 8.10pm, and hasn't gotten back to sleep yet - and it's nearly 10pm.

She screams, one of us goes in.
We pick her up and cuddle her and sing to her, she goes quiet - even starts snoring. We try to put her back in her cot, she resumes screaming.

We've been in about 8 times now, which is surely a record which hasn't been surpassed since the very early days when it routinely took 3 hours to settle her for the night.

We gave her Pamol, which usually works when she's teething or otherwise unconsolable, but it hasn't made any difference tonight. She hasn't got a temperature and she's pretty much over her cold.

It's kind of unusual for her to put up this much fuss at night and I don't know what to do.

Our littel guy did that after being really sick for a few days. If you're lucky it's just beign overtired that has done her in and she'll bounce right back.

Thanks for the sympathy guys. After about ten visits, 2 1/2 hours and a nappy-change (though it wasn't pooey or soaked), she finally let the boy put her back in her cot without protesting heartily, and went to sleep. That big gap in her sleep didn't prevent her from waking up at 5am this morning though!

Glad she got to sleep eventually. And Charlotte anticipated what I was about to say which was...could it be an ear infection? I believe if a little kid has one lying them down makes the pain a lot worse- something to do with how the fluid sloshes around and pressure in the ear.

She probably just had the night terrors. I told you not to read those books to her..

It is so hard to know what to do. You know it could just be a bed rebellion. Hopefully this will pass soon.

happyandblue2: you mean, the illustrated Edgar Allen Poe wasn't a good idea?
