Debug

eb and jb have possibly found the answer to my problem with those annoying pop-ups which appear when you lovely people view this blog. I never thought to blame it on the Nedstat code, visible in the form of a little button at the bottom. But the writer of this article does. So I've removed it and will simply have to survive with not knowing whether anybody reads my blog - at least until I find a replacement.

So the upshot of all this is, if you still get the pop-ups then let me know. Otherwise you have the cunning eb and jb to thank.

A few weeks ago I (noticed I had) started getting them, and now I don't get them.

Does that fit?

hooray! Now I just have to deal with the jitters from not knowing how many views I had...

Can't you use a different counter to track your visitors?

onscreen: of course I can. I just have to find one, and who's got time for that?

Pop ups are gone. I really recommend WordPress. Importing your old blog is pretty simple and a counter is built in. They've also just put in a handy page that keeps track of all your comments.

mtnw: that's a fairly big step, since it means all the thousands of people (I'm joking of course) who currently read the blog will have to change their bookmarking. I'll try just using another stats counter and see how we go. If it results in another round of pop-ups, then maybe Wordpress is the way.

I'm using Statcounter, never had any problems :) Also it has started making a map of where my visitors are from, big fun :)

I learned to hit the big X on the dashboard after getting here to keep the popup from loading.
I was just last week talking to Stella Magdalen about statcounting and how I'm not sure I actually want to look behind the curtain.
