Posing in Fiji

I just know you've all been waiting with bated breath, for some holiday photos. So here they are...

This is the view from our bure. No matter how boring you think it might get sitting on the beach all day for days on end, this is one thing I'd never get tired of looking at.

I'm trying to remember which Pacific Island culture has this code thing going on with wearing flowers in your ear; a flower in one ear (left or right, I dunno) means you're available, a flower in the other ear means you're married and a flower in each ear means you're married but looking for action...

There's something about piers that make me want to photograph them. I'm sure it isn't just phallic.

Anyone looking for a swimsuit model?

Sooooo envious!

The flower thing BTW is Hawaiian - and it's right ear for sigle, and left ear for taken.

portuguesa nova: well sure, but you'll never get another full night's again. oh wait, you might be in for that very soon, eh?

eb: thanks, the camera just loves her.

darth: she sure did - the hammock, the warm seawater, the other beach babes...

skirt: just as well it's not Fijian then. I wouldn't have wanted people to think she was a child bride or anything.

Good pictures. Were you on one of the islands off Nadi? There are a few out there that are mosquito free - Castaway Island comes to mind and I think they are more expensive but no mosquitos is a god-send.

happy and blue 2: as I said, the camera loves her.

nyx: we were on Malolo Island, one of the Yasawa Islands. The mozzies came out around the day when there was a thunderstorm.

I was going to say it's HAwaiian and right ear means your available and left means your taken.
your baby looks so beautiful with her flower. she must be "taken" by her mommy
sorry she wasnt tired enough for goodnight sleep while you were vacationing. at least you have some great memories still

avery's mom: all that socialising and swimming and didn't make her tired enough at all. She even had a couple of nights when she woke up shortly after bedtime and was happily awake for a 2-3 hours. We did have fun though, just not much sleep :-)
