Getting back on the mobile phone bandwagon

The hideously expensive smartphone that the boy got me as a birthday present a couple of years ago, is apparently on it's last legs. Half the time I don't get notified of a text until about three hours after it was sent, and lately it's been telling me I'm out of range of the mobile network (in the middle of the CBD! In the middle of a telecommunications company office!). So I reckon it's time for a new one.

But I don't want another smartphone, because I wouldn't use most of the features. All I really want the phone to do is: make and receive calls; send and receive text messages; and take pictures that don't come out all blurry when you get them printed at a decent size. I don't want email or web browsing, because it's bloody expensive to use those from a mobile phone. And I don't listen to music much any more either.

What do you reckon I should shop for?

Wish I knew but I suspect I'm even more tech averse.
Mine doesn't even take pictures.
No Blackberry in my immediate future.

Nokia nokia nokia. Not that I really know - when I lived in NZ I always had those Alcatel phones which I thought were 'the bees' and apparently are poo. Since I moved here I've had 2 Nokias and just changed a SonyEricsonn which I.don't.like.

I thought the Nokia's were easier to use and more intuitive... and reliable. Probably one of the 'basicer' models is fine...

nigel: nah I wouldn't want a Blackberry either - too much pressure to make use of all the office-y features.

donnasoowho: I'd go for reliability for sure. I'd rather pay more for a phone that lasts longer, than for one that has lots of short-lived bells and whistles. Thanks for the heads up on the Nokia vs Sony Ericsson
