It's a gut feel

I took The Little Madam to the doctor's this afternoon to check her out. After examining her ears and throat, and listening to her chest, the doctor confirmed that she has something.

I thought it would be okay to give TLM fruit purees, seeing as her pukes seemed to always follow solid food (breastfeeds seemed to be no problem). But one hour after her late lunch/early dinner, after she'd been exploring the hallway and geting acquainted with the dehumidifier, banana and pear puree (surely much more than she'd swallowed in the first place!) gushed out of her little rosebud mouth.

There was puke on the carpet. There was puke on the rug. There was puke on the over-sized jigsaw puzzle-cum-playmat with a picture of the Solar System on it. There was puke on the linoleum. And of course, there was puke on TLM and there was puke on me (prompting TLM's third emergency clothing change today, and my first).

Funny though; she was initially upset about all that puking, but mere minutes later was happily looking for something breakable to play with again.

Sounds similar to the virus JJT had 2 weeks ago. He puked 3 times in the GP's office and had a fever for 3 days. His highest temp was about 40 degrees celsius and his appetite waned quite a lot.

puking is the worst. the few times avery has spit up , she starts playing in it like its paint ...so gross

Hope your babe starts feeling better soon. that's alot of laundry and changing and cleaning..more then you need to be dealing with.

ah, the resilience of youth. Wait 'til she's puking up lager & black.

So it's nothing serious, just an end of winter stomach bug, right? Or maybe your breast milk has expired? ;-)

Hope she feels better soon! It's by far the worst thing I know, cleaning up stuff like that..

Poor you. I hope TLM is better. Dealing with vomiting is one of the least fun bits of parenting. I seem to remember the first gastric thing my daughter got she'd be happily playing then would get a wave of nausea and "Mummmmeee" would be the cry I'd pick her up to comfort her and kersplat- sick all over me including in my hair. She did this about 4 times before she finally fell asleep. Then I had to do a huge load of washing including the couch cushion covers.

You realise you're going to have to get a new over-sized jigsaw puzzle-cum-playmat with a picture of the Solar System on it, now that Pluto is no longer a planet, don't you?

eb: lucky you that JJT did his puking at the GP's office! So far TLM's temp hasn't surpassed 38 degrees, but she still feels like a hot little potato.

avery's mom: TLM hasn't been playing in her vomit - I guess I have that to be thankful for.

kazzer: yeah well, by then she'll have a drinking buddy to look after her (while I stay up all night wondering when she's going to come home).

jon: actually I briefly wondered whether she'd just had enough of my cooking!

scholiast: no, by far the worst is cleaning up the diarrhea at 3am, when it's soaked through her PJs, her sleeping bag and the cot sheet...

mtnw: it was like that - one minute happy and the next she was completely emptying her stomach.

flying kiwi: I don't know about that. Just 'cos it's no longer a planet, doesn't mean it can't be shown as a big meteorite in the Solar System....
