Group bug

It seems that all three of us have colds this weekend. This means that I have little energy and no patience, The Little Madam is whingy and has no appetite, and the boy is sh*t out of luck if he thought he was going to get a break this weekend.

I secretly quite enjoy being ill myself - I even crave those indulgent evenings bundled up in a quilt on the settee with everything in the living room gathered around me . It's the only time I allow myself the luxury of being messy.Out goes my obsession with uncluttered spaces and putting everything back in its proper place the moment it is no longer needed, and in comes the kind of wallowing slovenliness more commonly associated with faded actresses in clownish make-up and skewed wigs slumped over half-empty gin bottles. I like to keep everything within reach; from tubs of pills to remote control units, nothing must be more than a pathetic stretch away.

It is horrible when the whole household is ill but at least you are all misrable together which I prefer to being sick for a week and then mopping up after everyone else for nearly a month as the latest virus / infection or *wotever* goes through the house.

gary james: ah, the luxury of being sick without kids...

elizaf: I prefer to be healthy when everyone else is sick so it's easier for me to look after them. Plus, it means when I'm sick someone can look after me.
