First music love

I tried to instill in The Little Madam a good taste in music. From the library we borrowed classic children's favourites from the Fifties and kid-friendly world music. From my own collection I frequently played Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the album (which I still prefer to Radio Sunnydale), Bach and a selection of lounge-y acid jazz (not trendy, I know, but it comes from a very partying time of my life). Next for TLM's musical education, was going to be some Chemical Brothers.

But all that could be for nothing, because what she really loves to hear is The Wiggles' CD, Big Red Car.

Oh, well.

The song about a dog who barks all night gets her giggling, as does Five Little Joeys (jumping on the bed). It's too cute to sneer at, really.

"It's too cute to sneer at, really" might be exactly what she's thinking when you play buffy and acid jazz...

You could try her on Iggy Pop sometime. We had an, I must confess, adorable moment in the car one time when we realised our baby was singing along with "The Passenger" -lalalalala

Kids should listen to kid music.
She is just going to reject your music when she gets older anyways, ha,ha..

blame it on the fact that she's still developing :)
It'll be funny to see what she enjoys as she gets more taste...er, not to say, tlm is lacking in taste just, you know, later on when your acid jazz has penetrated her sound waves ;)

the editter: (sharp intake of breath) wash your mouth out!

mtnw: I'll ask the boy if he's got any Iggy. I don't, even though I like The Passenger too.

happyandblue2: you're so right. Even if she isn't sneering at my taste in music right now, she'll probably be doing it when she's a Goth (or whatever it is in 15 years time).

avery's mom: yeah, I just hope she doesn't do Goth - the amount of money I'd have to spend on all her makeup...

I get a kick out of my daughter. When she's in the van with Mum she only wants her kiddie tunes or her Robert Munsch story cds, but when I'm driving she asks me to put on "my music" which is an eclectic bunch of many things. Good for me, bad for my wife I suppose. Although she seems to really enjoy Teddy Bear Picnic more than she did before we had kids.

The Wiggles are awesome. They're Australia's highest paid entertainers.

wormbrain: really? They're Australia's Abba...
