Golly Goth!

It's a case of life imitating art; to be more specific, life imitating MOO (Mothers Opposed to the Occult). Apparently American kids who wear lots of black clothing and pale makeup to school are getting into trouble for it with their teachers.

There'll be locker checks and anti-Goth folks'll be looking for fantastical weaponry.

Want to know more? Have a look at SF Goth, a San Francisco website devoted to Goth-dom.

It's an issue not easily solved. Where are the boundaries? The comment at the end of the article about girls wearing pink and painting their nails echoed the thought I had while reading it (although I didn't swear).

I also think that any type of large group conformity can be perceived as threatening by others, but I don't really thing 10 people is a large group (Football teams perhaps...)

I definately think locker checks shouldn't be restricted to fantastical weaponry. I think there are far less interesting weapons being taken into schools than Anduril that should be confiscated.

Am having image of a gang of nerds with their pocket protectors.... Will they be sent home?

The article just reminded me so much of that episode of BtVS ('Gingerbread'), when the poor Goth kid (who'd been practicing witchcraft with Amy and Willow) got picked on by Snyder and various jocks during the witch hunt and locker search.

p.s. I was kidding about the fantastical weapons

It certainly has a remarkable resemblance.

I thought you were being funny, but I couldn't find the right place to put my smiley.

So I add it here.

What a difference an emoticon makes!
