partial nude

I'm just trying out Blogger's new image upload feature. It's pretty cool really, and easier to use than Picasa. This here is a small portion of a nude I painted ages ago - the painting as a whole was pretty crap really, but I did like this little bit here.

Well, my appointment with the Women's Health physiotherapist is first thing tomorrow morning, and there's been no return of the debilitating arthritis-like pain I experienced before I made the appointment. In the past week I've been almost hoping for it to come back but, if anything, I feel a lot better physically than I have for a few weeks now. I can actually walk around the block with feeling the full implications of the term 'heavy with child'.

My mum's arm fracture is all healed up now - and just as well, because those 2-3 hour hospital appointments are a real drag. All she has to do now is lots and lots of physiotherapy; all I have to do is lots of nagging to make sure she does her exercises, and say 'no' persuasively whenever she tries to get me to be her taxi driver and rice sack carrier.

I think it might be nice to paint a couple of children-y pictures to hang on the nursery walls. It'll keep me busy in the few weeks after I finish work, and help cover the horrible salmon-coloured walls. The spare canvases are already on hand; I just need some inspiration regarding subject matter.

How about some Warhol-style dummies and bibs etc.. that might look quite cool, and it would be relevant without being twee and cheesy...

Some modern interperatations of Dr Suses (sp?) might look nice....

you can't go far wrong with Winne-the-Pooh.

That's very cool, I like it.

And I'm curious to see what you come up with for baby's walls!

And blogger has new photo upload? I don't have to use hello anymore?

Ooh, I like the Dr Seuss idea :-) Or the Warhol idea!

If I lived there, I'd take her shopping. As long as she cooked for me and gave me moon cakes, that is :)

Beautiful painting, btw

I guess you can't put your nudes on the nursery wall, the baby might lick the paintings.

Maybe you could do a mural straight onto the salmon walls!

chilled_v: You mean Warhol's pop art? Hmmm...that could be do-able.

tara: thanks, but I did omit the crappy parts of the painting when I did the crop.

onscreen and kazzer: I think a trip to the children's library must be in order.

flying kiwi: Does this mean you'll have to buy a PXT phone now?

the skirt: And don't let me stop you from using the idea for your own kids' rooms

eb: you can probably find someone to do the calligraphy for you - there's a club in the Hutt. Otherwise, brightly coloured Good Life flowers would be lovely too. You should just do it.

jon: my mum used to make moon cakes that sold like um... hot cakes. But she gave away her molds when she retired from the Chinese cooking gig. But if you were over here and offered to take her shopping she'd try to talk to you in Cantonese.

Editter: I wouldn't paint straight onto the walls, because they're so many layers of wallpaper there that the paint doesn't stick very well. Really, those walls need to be stripped and re-painted properly. And I can't to trompe d'oeil.

I like your painting (at least the part that you've shown here). I've been curious about painting but the transition from sketching to the actual process befuddles me.

Thanks, glomgold - of course I only showed the bit that was any good. Painting is very cool. It is a bit of a leap from drawing, but all the more reason to try it...
