I'm just Wiggling

I was a little sad when I heard the news that the yellow Wiggle is leaving, because I've become so accustomed to having Wiggle-ness in the house. Our DVD of The Wiggles Movie gets played a lot, and I must have borrowed every single CD of theirs the library owns.

The Little Madam has learned (from me!) to move her head from side to side in time (sort of) to the music, and lately I've been taking it a step further by demonstrating some Wiggly dancing. I thought I was doing really well, waving my arms around, pointing my fingers, twisting and turning around as per sung instructions (thank the gods there's no dosee-doe-ing). After a couple of songs though, I noticed that TLM had stopped trying to imitate me and instead was sitting quietly with a quizzical look on her face, as though wondering what the heck I thought I was doing.

And thus, spazzy dancing is learned.

It's very sad about the yellow Wiggle. I remember seeing the Wiggles even before Captain Feathersword was his own bloke. I'm quite sure that when we saw The Wiggles Captain Feathersword was the Blue Wiggle in disguise. Yellow Wiggle was very dynamic and all the children had a wonderful time.

Here's hoping that the new Yellow Wiggle won't have get half as much grief as Daniel Craig did when he took on the role of James Bond!

I've never heard of the Wiggles but they must have had something to do with my spazzy dance technique. Do they use psychic mind control, ha,ha..

I too have never heard of the Wiggles, but if they got a beat and you can dance to it, they must be ok!

The window cleaner once caught me practicing a dance routine for Stop in the Name of Love. He just sort of froze there, his cloth glued to the window. I felt powerfully compelled to chase him up the street to urgently explain that I was straight, and doing this for a friend's birthday, and not part of some camp dance troup, but judging from the speed he ran I think it just made things worse

Have you heard the latest about the red Wiggle? He's finally come out of the closet and is dating Clay Aiken from American Idol

Its good to Dance even when your baby questions your style. It teaches bravery and Independance.

ms mac: I'm only a recent Wiggles watcher so I never knew that Captain Feathersword was anything other than his own bloke. But the Yellow understudy had big shoes to fill eh?

happyandblue2: The Wiggles are, as Ms Mac once commented, Australia's biggest export - sorta like an Aussie kiddies' Abba.

gary james: who you dance says a lot about your personality y'know. I guess that's why lots of single people won't dance...

avery's mom: really? although it doesn't surprise me that at least one of them might be gay. After all they can dance in time to music...

py: I applaud people who aren't afraid to dance in public, as long as they don't hurt anyone else in the process.

My kids used to stare at me like that when I felt in the mood for some irish dancing and played all my Pogues CD's.

nyx: ah well, Irish dancing...I could understand why that would get a stare or two...
