Pump it up

Baby met my workmates today. We were out shopping for a breast pump (think "mastitis"; think "rock hard boobies"), and my work is just up the road from The Baby Factory, so we popped in for a surprise visit. The women workmates were appropriately clucky. The guys had a look too and probably would've have hung around if I hadn't used the words "breast" and "pump" in my next sentence.

When we got home I had a go at the breast pump. It was going okay, once I realised that you have to create a bit of a vacuum before any milk appears. The only problem was that Baby kept demanding my attention, and it's impossible to pump a boobie and amuse a baby at the same time.

I'd rather not think "mastisis" (which in any case makes me think of cows) and "rock hard boobies", thank you very much.

oh no, if there were a spelling bee and the word were mastitis I would have just lost

I wonder if you had a boy baby, if the boobie pumping would be sufficient entertainment?

One of the more elegant parts of motherhood they don't warn you about, bowling ball boobies. The pumps are a fantastic option as you can chuck a bottle together and get hubbie to help feed. He'd liekly welcome the chance.

editter: and I bet you're up to creating the rhyme for me?

flying kiwi: but if you do think of those words, wouldn't this post make so much more sense?

skirt: only once he hits puberty.

rainypete: apparently it takes several sessions of pumping to get enough milk for one feed!

ah, the good old days...

me, i had an ameda SMB double electric: looks like a small steam engine so there was NO hiding it in the living room

some visitors regretted asking after its function (and some had to endure sitting drinking coffee whilst i worked on upping my daily yield...)

:)
