Well, here it is. The boy's Slytherin scarf. Weeks of dedicated knit and purl went into this, along with 4x100g skeins of forest green merino yarn and 2x50g skeins of silver grey wool yarn. It's knitted in the round, so that's a double thickness you're seeing, totalling about 4 1/2 feet worth of slythering, cosy goodness.
I toyed with the idea of doing tassels at each end instead of fringes, but that's possibly a bit overly feminine.

Does it slither?
I do have to say the clothes-making is fascinating.
Ever thought of doing a hat?
Gorgeous Violet! And it looks so lovely and WARM too ...
nigel: actually yes it does 'cos it's quite heavy! yes I have thought of making a hat too, but it's going to have to wait at least until after I've finished the cardigan.
pollyanna_h: I reckon it would be 'cos it's all wool and there's lots of it. The main thing is that the boy wears it, 'cos if he doesn't it's going to be remade into another cardigan!
That looks great! I'm especially impressed with the fringe. I don't know how to do those.
A: thanks! the fringe was quite straightforward - you just cut lots of short bits of yarn, thread 'em thru with a crochet hook and loop through.
Hi, I love the forest green colour you used for the scarf!
I want to make one too, but having a hard time finding the right green.
Could you please tell me what brand of yarn did you use?
Thanks!
Hi,
I love the green colour you chose for this scarf!
Could you tell me what brand is it?
I would like to make one for my girls too.
Thanks!
hi Burgundymarble, I used Ashford McKenzie (a New Zealand yarn) 4 ply merino for the dark green.
Is it possible to have the instructions for this? I've been dreaming of Slytherin scarf and I'd like to make it myself and that looks exactly like the ones the Slytherins have in the HP-movies.
hi Jahve SUCKS !! - I found a pattern on the Internet but couldn't tell you exactly which one. Just doing a search now, there are a few out there so it's just a matter of picking one which suits the yarn you want to use.
