It's called having priorities

I am not a shopaholic. Because if I was, I wouldn't have left The Editter's Tupperware party empty-handed; I would have bought the Madagascar lunch box, or a set of vegetable-freshness-preserving boxes or even the Happy Chopper. Though it was nice to see The Editter of course.

On the other hand, I discovered a wonderful clothes boutique called Scintilla. Not only did I want to try almost everything on, but several of the things I tried on looked good on me, which was a pleasant surprise. So, although I saved a hundred bucks by not buying any Tupperware, I spent some (and then some) at Scintilla. I liked the clothes so much I've even posted photos, so you can validate my taste.

Here on the left is the red tunic dress I bought, which looks great over jeans (and hopefully also over leggings or work trousers), with or without a t-shirt underneath.

And this is the sleeve detail on a cowl-necked black t-shirt which also looks great with jeans (have you guess I was wearing jeans today?), and hopefully also with skirt or work trousers.

Another boutique on the same street, Rose Petals, had some really costume jewellery (they also had some lovely trendy, cheap, clothes). I'm not a jewellery person - I don't even wear a watch. But this necklace pictured here would be a nice shot of colour (there's more blue on there than the photo shows) on those days when I go to work in top-to-toe black.

That is, if I get another contract.

Which reminds me. I'd better stop spending money.

Love the dress and shirt, they are gorgeous. It would seem we have very similar tastes although it would have to be a very brave day for me to wear red... I'm a bit scared of colour. That necklace, which I also think is gorgeous, is usually my version of colour in an outfit.

ingsnin is my word verification. It's like they tried to roll "Inga from Sweden' all into one word.

leo: the dress also comes in orange, hot pink and purple. The purple might be okay if you're scared of colour, because it's only a step away from navy blue really.

It's so Kiwi eh, to roll one's words together. Although Ingsnin might be a bit extreme.

Love the red dress - it looks very versatile. Don't feel bad about spending money because you're stimulating the economy. We spent loads o money at the wknd (most on the frickin' Christmas tree and decorations - I wish it was on clothes instead) and I didn't feel at all bad cause everything was on sale - so I was getting a bargain AND helping the country to not slide into a recession at the same time!

oh, BUT I can't believe you didn't buy any tupperware! How can you not want that big cake holder thing with the upside down lid? I so want one of those. I am thinking of having my own tupperware party just so I can buy one.

donnasoowho: but Tupperware is so expensive! Just the lunch box would have set me back $20, the vege box set was about $100! I reckon the reason most people host those parties is so they can get some free Tupperware...

How much?

Now you're in trouble...

btodger: well, theywerehavingaspecialbuyonegetoneathalfprice. so really, I saved you money.

Well that is true. I have shamelessly hosted many tupperware parties over the years for that very purpose. I do think Tupperware is expensive but it is worth the money.... I get so much use out of many of my tupperware products (not counting the Jel mould but there's always something that's going to be a bit of a dud) and I'd be lost without my tupperwave jug and sandwich keeper and the rock'n serve. Plus, of the few things that have broken Tupperware has always replaced them with a new or updated version. And recently when I decided to let go of my dream of having my entire pantry tupperware-ised, I bought some cheaper plastic containers which have been noticeably inferior.

btw, I consider you a bad influence cause I went shopping at lunchtime today.

Having witnessed the t-shirt today I can report that it is luverly! I also think that the dress looks gorgeous - why not try wearing by itself? 8-)

donnasoowho:well, perhaps I'll reconsider the Tupperware thing...once I'm financially flush again.
Also, as of today I will once more be a budget-conscious non-shopper (we'll see how long that lasts). I intend to switch obsessions - from shopping back to job-hunting. The photos won't be as attractive tho.

desiree: it's thigh-length, so I will definitely only wear the dress with trousers or leggings.

I decided on my freebies last night - you've got till tomorrow to order Tupperware from my party so I get more $ to spend, lol! I didn't realise you'd walked away emptyhanded, that means everyone else spent more than I thought they did! It was fun, and sorry there weren't any other kids for TLM to play with. Your Scintilla purchases look awesome!

the editter: yeah I was open-minded about ordering, but don't like to spend big without having some time to think about it - which TLM didn't allow me!

Beautiful, especially the red dress! Now isn't that better than buying Tupperware? :)

Word Verification is: skintees

Not spending is the hard part, because everywhere you go there are things to buy.
