nothing new on the childbirth front

It was just another fabulously warm and sunny mid-winter day, completely devoid of early labour signs. It's getting to the point where I'm tempted to peer into my knickers every few hours in case the "show" appears. Almost.

I started reading one of the boy's fantasy books, Daughter of Empire by Raymond Feist and someone else, though who knows how long I'll stick with it. It's part of a trilogy, and fantasy isn't usually my thing, but it should at least make a refreshing change from the other stuff I've been reading up till now.

For wont of anything else to post, I'd planned to show you some photos of the almost-but-not-quite-finished nursery, but unfortunately the batteries in the digital camera are completely flat so they'll just have to wait.

Apparently now is the time I should start eating rice stir-fried with plenty of ginger; I'm not quite clear on the reason for this, but it's supposed to ensure that I can eat plenty of vegetables afterwards, without fear of causing an imbalance in my chi.

it is very important to balance the chi...

if not, you could damage your ninja skills!

Keep checking those knickers. It has to happen soon..

Ginger is a 'hot' food element right? Maybe it's good for your stomach because the baby's been kicking it this whole time.
Anyway, it sounds tasty regardless (the stir-fry, not the baby).

And nobody wants a parent with a wonky chi!!

It could be worse. At least you aren't at the end of your pregnancy in 34C, really humid weather like we are having here.

How about a ginger curry to both balance qi and bring on labour?

Oh the anticip...

You realise that upon checking your knickers, you're going to get one hell of a fright when it DOES come away, right? :)
Is this the appropriate time to flood you with some of the bring-on-labour gems I got when I was pregnant?

Nookie - worked with the first one.

Castor oil - Bleah. Would rather have stayed pregnant.

Raspberry leaf tea - used in conjunction with the nookie for the first baby, so I'm not sure which worked.

Hang in there.

I'm relieved that you guys were freaked by the mention of the knicker thing. I thought it might be a case of Too Much Information...

glomgold: it makes sense, if ginger is "hot", that it can balance out the "cool" of vegetables.

rainypete: I did think for a while that pregnancy was turning my winter into a mild one - but then I found out that our winter has been the mildest in decades anyway.

flying kiwi and wicked: Nookie just isn't very appealing at the moment, probably because anything that makes my back arch suddenly starts to feel uncomfortable (was that Too Much Information?). And ingesting castor oil sounds really disgusting. I'll just wait, ambivalently, if it to happen naturally or with the help of the midwife.
