go on, it'll be fun!

I saw the poster a couple of weeks ago, advertising the Baby Pops - a one hour show for little kids, in which the local orchestra plays kiddie tunes like Twinkle Twinkle and Old MacDonald, and the audience are invited to get up close to all those bassoons, violins and trumpets.

It was mentioned on Thursday evening, and within minutes the boy had logged onto the ticketing website and booked two tickets for TLM and me. I reeled in horror at the $8 booking fee (almost a third of the total cost of the tickets), but figured it would be fun for TLM and only a once-a-year thing anyway.

And it was fun. The conductor was cheesy, the hostess was dressed like a young MacDonald and someone even stood by the entrance giving out conducting batons (plastic straws, actually) to the kids. We learned how to conduct ("Up...down...left...right...now faster...good!"), we practised our animal noises, we sang, we even had a chance at holding and playing a baby-sized violin. At least, I did all those things. TLM kept trying to hold my hands down and telling me to stop singing. I think she might have been embarrassed by me.

It took approximately 60 minutes to get out of the parking building, compared to about 15 minutes to actually drive home. If we ever get TLM to go again, someone else can bloody drive her.

A couple of times on public access television here I've seen this guy doing over-the-top rock music for kids on his acoustic guitar.
Itsy Bitsy Spider, I'm a Little Teapot, ending it by telling the crowd of toddlers & mums "I'm a little teapot and so are you!!!"
Half the Ann Arbor locals know him (of course) and I assume he meets a lot of single mums that way.

Its gotta be more tasteful than meeting women by manning a counselling phone line.

Don't take TLM next time - I reckon she's a bit of a spoilsport! My boy isn't old enough to be embarrassed by me yet. He likes my singing too. First person ever....

A pervy helpline operator?
There's a story in there somewhere.

kazzer: yeah but it might look a bit funny to be the only adult there who doesn't have at least 1 kid attached...

nigel: I know someone who knows someone who did that. Apparently met several girlfriends that way.

Ick.
Though I do give him points for original thinking.

It doesn't sound like you'll have to take TLM again cause she won't want to be seen anywhere with her EMBARRASSING mum!

nigel: aren't you glad you won't have to resort to that?

donnasoowho: she never used to complain about my singing...

Sounds like fun.
You may have had more fun than TLM

Oh and I am sure she likes the pretty scarf you made her
I guess you should make things for her now because when she is older she may not want mom made things.
