Thoughts on the pox

TLM is still spotty, but she hasn't had any new clusters of spots since about Tuesday - so I'll take that as a good sign.

My mum assured me that I had chicken pox as a child - I myself had always thought that I'd had measles, from my memory it could have been anything spotty and itchy (like scabies!) - while the boy definitely has had it. There is always the chance of getting shingles though...

And for the last two days I've been hearing ads on the radio for a $200 vaccination against shingles.

Coincidence or what?

I don't understand how there coud be a vaccination against shingles cause I thought it was as a result of having had chicken pox (that you always have the virus in your body?). So how would the vaccination work? Except that obviously I am hardly an expert on these things so it's quite likely that there is a vaccination that I know nothing about.

I think maybe you're hyper-aware of 'pox' related illness atm which is why you noticed the vaccination advert?

I had chicken pox as a child - I think 'in our day' most kids probably had them?

Ha - I just totally didn't type the correct 'challenge' word and it still posted my comment!

Except then that time it didn't let me.

I just Googled shingles vaccine. It's only recommended for people aged over 60 so you probably don't have to worry about it for a few years?

That's a lot of comments donnasoowho. Is this your way of not bothering to blog?

I have talked to people who said they got shingles (after having had chicken pox) at ages ranging from teens to middle age, which is of no comfort to me whatsoever!

Tis true, I just don't know what to write on my blog anymore. And now I'm super worried about shingles!
