Last night I found some frown lines on my face. I was horrified enough to plaster on extra moisturizer before going to bed. But when I told the boy about them, he said it is okay to use Botox. I suppose that's nice of him...
I've resolved to try and avoid frowning, as much as I can.
I can now see a clear and practical link between the twin reputations Asians have for
1. inscrutability and
2. agelessness.
Oh, how I curse my expressive youth...
Blame it on your Little Madame. I didn't have a grey hair until Patrick came along, I swear.
ReplyDeleteYou've only just found them NOW? Wait till you find the jowly neck and triple chins [the body part below the mouth, not your triplet cousins ;-)].
ReplyDeleteThey DO say it takes less facial muscles to smile than it does to frown, but my problem is that when I was younger I tended to squint a lot at the same time - I'm expecting crow's feet to erupt any day now.
A neutral face would be good but I think most people would just think I was being grumpy.
I don't have frown lines, but you know those lines Fred Flintstone has at the side of his mouth that go down to his chin? I'm getting those.
ReplyDeletems mac: most people blame their spouses for their grey hair ;-)
ReplyDeletedesiree:a neutral face would probably just make us look like I've had a labotomy.
cathi: aren't those called laugh lines? According to the boy, they're the most (if not only) attractive lines you can get.
Hmmm, I thought laugh lines were around the eyes. I'm talking about the two caverns, only a centimetre long, but deep and permanent, travelling down my face from the side of my mouth. I don't know what shape my face would have to make to crease there when I laugh.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I should laugh more?
cathi: those lines around the eyes are just crows' feet, aren't they? I always thought laughter lines were the ones on either side of your mouth.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same problem coming on. Probably due to my having made faces all my life. Since I both laugh and frown, a lot, it's tough to say which one those lines by the mouth are due to.
ReplyDeleteglomgold: didn't Bill Cosby say something about the funny faces you make becoming permanent if you weren't careful? The lines are probably the real-life version.
ReplyDeleteI guess that's the price one pays in life for showing emotion. :)
