Parking spaces are at a real premium in my street, which is why I'm so grateful that I have my own garage. But my new car resides there now, and my old Honda is taking up space on the street - space sorely needed for the boy's car.
I'm thinking of selling the old 'un via the Internet, but my experience with on-line auctions to date has been limited to items less than fifty bucks and no bigger than a golf umbrella.
And there's that whole thing of, is it safe to have strangers coming over to inspect the vehicle during the day, when Baby and I are home alone? If prospective buyers want to take it out for a test drive, should I go with them, or hold onto their Rolex until they return?
Hmmm...so much to think about...
How much do you want for it? I'm carless (ironically enough, my poor little darling that gave up the ghost was a Civic too), and I need one before winter, dammit.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be so cool to have a right hand drive car although a bit tricky to drive over here.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the price of shipping it I could buy a second '91 Honda Civic domesticly.
Still it would be way cool.
wicked: I'll get back to you, but make an offer now if you'd like.
ReplyDeletenigel: I dunno, people here in NZ buy imported second-hand Japanese cars all the time - either the shipping isn't that much, or the cars are damned cheap...
nah, it's not that unsafe; I'm just being cautious. The only two times I've bought something off TradeMe, and gone to pick it up from the seller's home, the seller was male - it made me wonder whether women sellers avoid doing that.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, never really thought about that...no, I don't want to be IN the car with them...I don't know the answer to that one.
ReplyDeleteI love my Honda Civic! YAY for us Honda owners...
BTW, did you figure out yesterday my seemingly misplaced comment to Juliabohemian was a response to her response on my thingy. I wanted to make certain she heard me. YOU made me ROFL with your 'previous blogger not on right page'...hahaha STILL smiling!
~d: well that explains the non sequitur...no, I didn't figure it out because I never remember what I've read!
ReplyDeleteDo you have a Craigslist.org type site in NZ? I know someone who very recently was looking to sell his Civic (it was maybe a '94). Within a few hours of posting he received a bunch of offers and sold it for more than he asked for by the next day.
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about Craigslist, but we do have TradeMe which is a local version of Ebay. I'm waiting to hear back from Wicked; if she decides against buying it then it's off to TradeMe.
