It's got to be a pregnancy thing, yet I haven't come across this affliction in any of the literature nor have I seen it written on any blog posts relating to pregnancy.
I cannot sit down for more than twenty minutes without getting a sore bum.
This afternoon at work I just caught myself in time before I started to groan with discomfort. I'm sure it's not a good look to be groaning at work (unless one is a professional tennis player).
It's also affecting my evenings and days off, because three of my favourite activities involve sitting for long periods of time - reading and writing blogs, watching tv and DVDs, and reading.
Aside from frequent bum massages (the boy is usually happy to oblige, but only if I ask him at home), I don't know how to solve this one. Standing is worse, and lying down is so...slothful.
Violet, welcome to the end of your body as you know it. You might have to take a cushion with you wherever you go. Cos that's always a good look...
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not sure your boss would be happy about bum massages at the workplace ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid Frally is all too right. I think I've had the same thing since I had a baby. I find it hurts sitting but it also hurts to stand up. It might be an oos thing of some sort. With the baby and all I haven't had time to get it checked out.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I found helped with discomfort sleeping was a full body pillow. I got mine at Moore Wilsons and it was quite cheap.
eb means a Swiss ball.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a bum massage btw - what a shame that it's frowned upon in public!
It might be related to a sciatic problem, although I would have thought that baby isn't big enough yet to be pressing on the spine.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, try putting some heat on the area - use a hot water bottle (don't laugh - I use one at work for my back) or a wheat pack. That might help to ease the pain.
Also maybe one of those kneeling chairs? Might put a bit of pressure on your knees...
Frally: and I thought I'd managed to escape the whole cushion-thing but not getting haemorroids...
ReplyDeleteEB: I knew what you meant - my gym subscription ain't fer nothing y'know. The Swiss ball idea sounds promising, but I can just see myself not paying attention and falling over at an inopportune moment.
Jon & The Skirt: bum massages really are great, but they do tend to have side effects - I won't go into that 'cos it's a family show
Make Tea: I like stuff that's cheap. Thanks!
Anonymous: ooh that would be a bad idea. I have dodgy knees from way back...along with dodgy ankles and sensitive hips.
