Perhaps ideally, it would be exactly knee length, and either bright green or deep plum in colour. I prefer a v-neck for all my clothes, so have not considered any other sort of neckline for coats. But I do like wearing scarves in winter so that's not an issue.

deborah: ideally, any coat I buy that this kinda money would last me 20 years to.

kazzer: don't you like green?Violethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10547452802344363142noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6085694.post-82052381004410052252009-07-29T09:01:35.819+12:002009-07-29T09:01:35.819+12:00No. Violet, it's GREEN.No. Violet, it's GREEN.Kazzerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11286986264701582417noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6085694.post-4190025819534829392009-07-28T23:06:32.246+12:002009-07-28T23:06:32.246+12:00I wouldn't, but then I'm a cheapskate too....I wouldn't, but then I'm a cheapskate too. One of my coats is about 21 years old, and deeply unfashionable, and the other is about 20 years old, and I love it to bits.

I've found that one of the best ways to save is simply to defer spending. Consider my old coats successful deferance.Deborahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14182573274494086468noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6085694.post-37834409309382224432009-07-28T20:53:15.597+12:002009-07-28T20:53:15.597+12:00It's hard to say. It looks not dissimilar to my coat - so maybe I am biased. Is it warm enough? I think that's a massive issue for Wellington (to, for instance, wear without other stuff on underneath, if nec). Otherwise coats are an investment so I would condone spending that much money on said item if you think it's going to last (say about 5 years?!).

And also (channeling my mum now) how practical is v-neck? Will potentially always need to wear scarf? Also, lengthwise is slightly short suspect you will get a cold bum if, for instance, you sit down on the cold metal seats at the bus shelter while wearing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6085694.post-27035660187557389392009-07-28T19:15:27.260+12:002009-07-28T19:15:27.260+12:00I'm supposed to be a cheapskate too, seeing as...I'm supposed to be a cheapskate too, seeing as we're living off my measly half-income.
If only I had cheaper taste in clothes...Violethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10547452802344363142noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6085694.post-69515847790795110742009-07-28T17:20:53.812+12:002009-07-28T17:20:53.812+12:00Ummm...no!
